From the mountains and villages of Georgia to audiences around the world, Trio Mandili have become one of the most recognizable voices in contemporary Georgian music.

Their story began simply: three friends walking through a Georgian village, singing together and filming the moment on a phone. The video went viral, introducing millions of people around the world to the extraordinary sound of Georgian polyphonic singing.

What followed was something much bigger. Trio Mandili have built an international audience, toured extensively across Europe and beyond, and released three albums — With Love, Enguro, and Sakartvelo — while remaining rooted in the intimacy and spontaneity that first captured people’s attention.

Featuring Tatuli Mgeladze, Tako Tsiklauri, and Mariam Kurasbediani, Trio Mandili weave three voices into the intricate harmonies for which Georgian singing is renowned, accompanied by the panduri, the traditional Georgian string instrument. Their music moves between centuries-old Georgian traditions and contemporary songs, carrying a sound that can feel ancient, immediate, joyful and deeply human all at once.

The name Mandili comes from the traditional Georgian women’s headscarf — a symbol historically associated with reconciliation and peace.

On May 23, SAMA: Music & Art welcomes Trio Mandili to Seattle for their first Seattle performance, live at Nectar Lounge.
